Stephen Starr’s creative Japanese restaurant has garnered national and international attention since its opening several years ago. Located just a block from Independence Hall on Chestnut Street, Morimoto captivates with its glass and color-infused interior, designed to be both striking and serene.
The restaurant’s namesake and head chef, Morimoto (known from the Food Network show “Iron Chef”), has curated a menu that offers the best of modern Japanese cuisine. While regulars flock here for the exquisitely prepared sushi, Morimoto offers its guests a wide spectrum of flavors that extends beyond nigiri and sashimi.
In recent years, the restaurant has made it onto Gourmet magazine’s “Best Restaurants in America” list and Conde Nast Traveler magazine’s “50 Hot Tables in America” list. Even today, Morimoto remains one of the hottest dining spots in Center City, continuing to receive rave reviews from regulars and first-time visitors alike.
Nevertheless, you should definitely make reservations in advance.
